I've recently got into Adventure Time and fell in love with the design of post-Mushroom War Earth. So I decided to try to make a series of illustrations depicting the ruins of civilization after the war that got the story of Adventure Time rolling. I may also eventually do illustrations of moments leading up to the bombing that ended the war.

The overall design of the sketch was inspired by a painting I saw at the Museum of Art and Design. The painting was entitled, Accept North Korea into the Nuclear Club or Bomb It, by Ayoung Kim. I may do a sketch that looks a bit more like the painting in the future. Also, the reason why there's so many smudges is because I tried to recreate Pendleton's drawing style using only traditional methods with the exception of using the scanner to upload the image. Coloring this illustration on the other hand, I'm going to use photoshop because I don't want to alter the original version of the sketch. I may try experimenting with a photo copy and transparent paper though to color the image.
